Relationship between Gender and Literacy, Plaintiffs
Sex of the plaintiff and the
plaintiff’s literacy are strongly correlated. Males are significantly more
likely to be literate than females are. While the number of cases for which
literacy was recorded in the prewar years is small, the correlation coefficient
is still significant. Conducting this analysis for the war years yields
identical results.
